FAQs

Will you write a sequel for Can’t Beat the Heart of a Carolina Girl?

Right now, the answer is a definite “no”! Many readers have asked me this, but I’m content with the way the characters’ story ended in CBTHOACGHowever… keep an eye out for cameo appearances from the characters in my future novels!

What other novels are you writing?

Well… *ahem*

  • Speak Your Mind: A middle grade novel about a shy girl that navigates the horrors of her seventh grade year alone inside her head, until she learns how amazing it can be to branch out with the help of some friends.
    Tentative release: November 24, 2018

  • The Crush: Currently in MAJOR revision mode. It was once a completely different story, and it’s slowly but surely morphing into something better. To keep it simple, it’s about a girl’s total devotion to the prospect of dating her crush over half a decade. Does she get what she wants? Well, you’ll have to see in a few years! It’s going to be a while before this one’s released!
  • On the Flip Side: Currently in its first few chapters, On the Flip Side focuses on twin sisters who are BFFs turned enemies all thanks to a manipulative relationship. With college soon approaching, it seems like they’ll never reconcile. When is it due out? Probably in the next couple years… it’s not too far along!
  • Tales of an Awkward Turtle: Just a concept at the moment, ToaAT is a spin-off novel of Speak Your Mind, based on the main male character’s awkward older brother, Brandon. Though I haven’t even written the first chapter, I’ve been brainstorming for over a year, and I plan to include this adorable little snippet: The Journal.

When did you start writing?

At age seven, all thanks to a Mary-Kate and Ashley notebook my aunt gave me for Christmas!

Who first inspired you to write?

Though my aunt gave me the notebook and encouraged me to write, my greatest inspiration for writing is my Grandma Joyce. She used to write a lot, but never published anything before she passed away in 2006.

Is writing your full-time job?

No, I work full-time as an IT Support Technician. Writing will always be my first love, though, and I’d love to be able to write full-time.

Wait… aren’t you like 16?

No, but I get that a lot. XD
