Live Without You Blog Tour: Book Review for Live Without You by Sarah Grace Grzy

Hey there, Arrowheads! I’m back with another blog tour stop, this time for Sarah Grace Grzy’s debut release, Live Without You! This adorable novella is an adult contemporary Christian romance that I have the honor of reviewing today. So, let’s get started!

Synopsis

Piper Redding is a loner, but lonely. Everyone she loves has abandoned her and opening her heart to others is just asking for more pain. She can’t help but blame herself for her brother’s tragic death six years ago, and in her guilt, she shuts herself off from the world. No one could love her—not even the God who promised to be there for her but wasn’t.

For paramedic Ezra Bryant, failure is not an option. He’s had enough of it, and only by God’s grace is he able to put it behind him. But when a traumatic event brings Piper’s greatest fear and Ezra’s failures to light, can they use that event to allow God to mend their broken pieces? Can love triumph over fear, and grace over guilt?

Book Review: Live Without You

Told through third person narration, Live Without You is Sarah Grace’s debut novella that features an abundance of faith content and sweet moments.

Highlights

The Writing

Sarah Grace has top-notch writing skills and excels at descriptive writing. I can tell she put a lot of thought and thorough research into writing the paramedic and hospital scenes.

Cecile and Piper

My two favorite characters in the book are Miss Cecile and our female lead, Piper. Their personalities shined through the most throughout the story, and I found Piper to be relatable. An honorary mention goes to Finley as well, for being an adorable addition! ❤

Faith Content

As mentioned above, this novella features heavy faith content, perfect for readers who have experienced loss and struggle with wondering why God allows such things to happen.

Lowlights

Repetitive Information/Thoughts

There were a few times when the plot began to slow down in favor of repeating information or thoughts from a character that had already been revealed. I would have loved to see more forward motion in the story rather than further reflection.

The Pacing of the Romance

Although I felt the pacing for the beginning of the relationship was well-timed, and the pacing for the characters was fitting as it showed that time had passed, for the reader two big romantic plot twists occurred in back-to-back scenes, making it feel a bit rushed as the readers don’t get to see the relationship grow and mature to that level. Otherwise, the relationship in itself was adorable.

Overall, fans of contemporary Christian romance who crave Biblical messages will adore this novel. My rating is: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars.

Thank you to the author for providing me a free ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. A positive review was not required to receive the ebook.

About the Author

sarahgracegrzy

Sarah Grace Grzy is a voracious reader, and if it weren’t for this crazy thing called ‘Life,’ she’d be tempted to spend all her days in front of a wood stove, book in one hand, coffee mug in the other.

A lover of learning, she finds enjoyment in many things and has more hobbies than she knows what to do with. Sarah Grace is a freelance web and graphic designer, and when not working, spending time with her ever-growing family, or reading, she can be found painting, playing the piano, or fangirling with her sisters and friends. She inhabits the State of Great Lakes, and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else—unless it meant she could have a baby penguin, in which case, she’d gladly move to the South Pole.

Author Interview with J.E. Grace (With Bonus Book Spotlight)

Hey, Arrowheads! One of my favorite things to do here on Authoring Arrowheads is to host author interviews! Today I’d like to introduce you to J.E. Grace, author of several Christian novels, including The Zarion-Saving Mankindthe Pacific Cove Series, and the book to be spotlighted today: Redemption at Shadow Lake

Author Interview with J.E. Grace

jegrace
J.E. Grace was born in California and has a background in Retail Management.
She now resides in the Midwest and retired from a career in real estate in 2012 to pursue her writing. Her interests include poetry, painting in traditional oils/pastels, digital art and photography. Her work can be viewed on Society 6, Zazzle, and Fine Art America. She also runs Literary Reflections Book Blog online.
“The Zarion-Saving Mankind” was her debut science fiction novel. Her writing has spiritual overtones due to deep roots in her faith. More of her writing can be found in the Author’s Den.
http://www.authorsden.com/jegrace
Her new Pacific Cove Series; Haunted Visions-Book 1 and Testament of Faith-Book 2, were published in March 2016.” A Walk with Heavenly Spirits” was released 12/5/17.
She is published by Winged Publications and released a Christian suspense novel titled,”Redemption at Shadow Lake” April 2018. She is currently working on another mystery novel, Book 3 of the Pacific Cove series, and the sequel to The Zarion.

Q1: When did you feel that God called you to be a Christian author?

I have always been drawn to Christian fiction but until I retired from real estate, had never considered actually publishing a book.  As I began to write my first novel, I could feel God’s influence on the pages of my writing. With every book I write, I feel it getting stronger.  I know that I have been called to write and glorify God.

Q2: Tell me about your books! What has been your favorite release so far?

My favorite release so far has been A Walk with Heavenly Spirits. I feel like through the writing of that book, I have grown in my faith and walk with God.  I could see a lot of myself in the main character, as far as my growth as a Christian and it has helped me to heal from my hurts from the past.

Q3: What authors in your genre inspire you the most?

The ones I’m inspired most by are James Rubart, Caryl McAdoo, Lorana Hoopes, Gabriel Shoshanna, and Rachael Hauck.  I love the way they weave the Christian message into the pages of their stories.

Q4: What’s your go-to snack when you hit writer’s block and need a pick-me-up?

I usually go for popcorn or a cup of herbal tea.

Q5: What advice would you give to an author seeking to have their books traditionally published?

Getting traditionally published is a hard road. I was Indie published for quite awhile before I was signed by Winged Publications.

I would advise signing with a small press first. Get your name known and then when the time is right, approach other publishers.  Traditional publishing isn’t for everyone.

All authors have gone through the same process you’re going through now.  I would say to write as often as you have time for. Be as active in social media as you can.  Start building your subscriber list and take the time to get to know your readers. This all helps if you decide to seek a traditional publisher.  They like to see that you have a reader base. Also, make sure you know what the publishers your approaching is looking for. Take time to do your research.

Writing is a never-ending learning process and it’s not fair to try to compare yourself to other authors. There is always more you can learn.

That is some stellar advice! 🙂 Thank you for joining us here, Ms. Grace! Now let’s take a look at her novel, Redemption at Shadow Lake.
